Alpine Card Services P. Ltd. (ACS) is a financial services company solely established for the purpose of providing various services related to card business.
ACS is 100% owned subsidiary of M/s Alpine Travel Service P. Ltd. (ATSPL). ATSPL, besides their core business relating to Travels and Tours, made foray into the Card acquiring business, for Visa and MasterCard Card, in the year 1988 as a representative to The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. Singapore. At that time no banks in Nepal were engaged in the card business. This relationship, in 1993, was acquired by Overseas Union Bank Ltd., Singapore, to operate in Visa and MasterCard Card business for the Kingdom of Nepal.
In the year 1998 Alpine entered into another strategic partnership with ANZ Nepal Grindlays Bank Ltd., which is now Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd. to jointly perform the card acquiring business Nepal. The year 1999 saw another milestone in Alpine and Grindlays relationship when Alpine was given the privilege to start its operation in Bhutan jointly with Bhutan National Bank, the first by any private company as a service provider.
ACS has also been recognized as Member Service Provider and Third Party Processor by MasterCard International, the well renowned card brand in the Globe. With this, ACS is licensed to carry out activities related to MasterCard brand viz. Authorization Processing, Cardholder and/or Merchant Statementing and Fraud Control/Risk monitoring, etc.
